Controller

Job Summary

The Controller will plan and direct all accounting functions for the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation of the accounting department, which will include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and some inventory management. Tasks
    • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities, such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
    • Coordinate and direct the accounting department and budgeting activities in the organization
    • Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels
    • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and other reporting needs
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions
    • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
    • Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
    • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
    • Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
    • Lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management areas.
    • Prepare financial information so that outside accountants can complete tax returns.
    • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, and budgeting duties.
    • Coordinate with third party CPAs and other consulting firms
    • Coordinate tax planning work.
    • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned Required Skills/Abilities:
      • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
      • Proficient in accounting software
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
      • Proficient in Netsuite
      • Experience with Salesforce a plus Education and Experience:
        • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
        • Seven years or more of related experience required.
        • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
